Boracay Island Shopping

Where to Shop in Boracay Island

The Boracay shopping scene may be light-years away from Manila or Cebu, you'll nevertheless find here all that you need. White Beach, the main commercial district of Boracay has gift shops and boutiques selling souvenirs and crafts such as costume jewelry made out of shells, home decor items, inexpensive apparel, and popular local snacks.

The area has several flea markets though D’ Mall near Station Two is the most popular one. This mini-complex offers a wide range of stalls that offer beachwear, accessories, clothes, and toiletries. Supermarkets, restaurants and coffee shops are also located here. Outside of the White Beach area, the shopping is sparse or non-existent. Check out below where to shop on Boracay Island...

White Beach’s Hawkers

Whether you like them or not, hawkers are a part of most days on White Beach. The positive point with them is that they can get you almost anything you want while you are lazing on your sun-lounger: fresh drinks, fruits and snacks, hats, glasses, souvenirs, you name it. The downside is that there are many of them and your patience may wear thin after being harassed a dozen times for the same thing that you do not want to buy (or drink or eat). It’s almost impossible to get rid of them as they are officially recognised, and most of them belong to the Boracay Vendors and Peddlers Association. The best way to tell them you’re not interested is to just say “no, thanks” and act as if they’re not there. It’s not easy to be so rude as they usually are extremely polite and insistent, but it works.

What to Buy in Philippines

The Philippines is an excellent destination for anyone interested in picking up elaborate handicrafts, home-furnishings, jewelry, embroidery and baskets. There is no doubt that Manila is the place to go for serious shopping. This is a Read More...
