Philippines Restaurants & Dining

What & Where to Eat in Philippines

The Philippines has something of a poor reputation for food. This is primarily a consequence of the notorious balut dish – a boiled duck egg containing a partially developed embryo, sometimes with tiny feathers. Obviously, if this doesn’t take your fancy then there are a lot of other rice and stew based dishes that will undoubtedly please. Food here is invariably cheap, especially on the islands, although it will be predominantly Filipino food. Resorts on the islands cater to western tourists, often putting on buffets that offer delicacies from around the globe, as well as al a carte menus usually consisting of Mediterranean fare.

When on Cebu or Manila you can expect the sort of dining options you would get in any cosmopolitan capital, be it McDonalds or a quaint fine dining French haunt. The Filipinos are great fans of the eating experience and more often than not, mix alcohol with it for a more raucous effect.
