Where to Eat in Mactan Island
Visitors do not have to look far when it comes to quality dining out on Mactan Island. All the high-end hotels are well known for their superb kitchens. For example, the Shangri-La Mactan has a wide variety of restaurants (Italian, Chinese, and seafood amongst others).
Cheap and tasty seafood can be found at the Lapu Lapu Monument in Punta Engano as well as the food stalls opposite SaveMore Supermarket inside the Mactan Marina Mall. They serve up local items such as roast pig with sour sauce and lots of seafood. Alternatively, one can try out the list of restaurants below.
Maribago Grill
Maribago Grill serves Filipino food in a friendly atmosphere. Customers can choose to dine at one of their 'huts' with family and friends. They are well known for their delicious food at very reasonable prices. Dishes include chicken adobo (boiled chicken with soy sauce), stir-fried shrimp with garlic sweet sauce, sautéed squid and grilled spareribs.

Abaca
Abaca is a Mediterranean Restaurant and a part of a boutique resort with the same name. It is very easy to find as it is situated not far from the five-star Shangri-La in Mactan. Abaca serves interesting dishes made from local fresh seafood and imported meats and cheeses from around the world. Vegetables and herbs used in their cuisine are from their own organic garden. Abaca has a rich interior with high-end touches which make dining even more enjoyable.

Hola Espana
Hola Espana is another up-market restaurant in Mactan with a gorgeous ambience and outstanding Spanish food. They menu includes gambas al ajlo (stir-fried shrimp with garlic), paella negra (paella with dark squid ink) and bouillabaisse (seafood stewed in olive oil and flavored with herbs and spices.

Floating Restaurants
If time allows, visitors might want to experience dining at one of the floating restaurants off Olango Island near Mactan. This type of restaurant is popular more for lunch. The fact is they are not really floating; they are on stilts. So far they have managed to stay low profile and not many tourists know about them. Fresh seafood is served here, for example shellfish, crabs, prawns. Ask your hotel front desk for more info how to get there. Be sure to pick a restaurant with fixed prices.

Jungle Disco
Jungle Disco serves Filipino and International cuisine from 11:00 daily. They also offer all-you-can-eat buffet each day from 15:00. Jungle features a variety of shows (comedians, fire dances and cultural dances) as early as 19:00. Call to check their schedule.

Goku
Visitors who love Japanese food will be happy to learn that there are quite a few Japanese restaurants around Mactan Island. Goku is one of the well-known places which serve delicious Japanese cuisine including sausage teppanyaki, tonkatsu (deep-fried pork with Worcester sauce), torikawa, chikuwa tempura (fried ground fish), and sishamo (grilled small fish).

Ichiirikicyaya
Ichiirikicyaya is a big, two-level Japanese Restaurant. Inside, it features low tables and tatami mats. Food choices are sushi, crab meat salad marinated with mayonnaise and ebi tempura (deep-fried prawns). Don’t forget to try edamame (boiled green soybeans) usually good with beer. Ichiirikicyaya also has a massage section on the first floor. It is a popular place for many visitors to start off with massage followed by lunch or dinner or you can do it other way around.

Gustavian
There are a few branches of Gustavian in Cebu. When in Mactan try the one located at the Marina Mall. Their menu is quite varied with a good wine list. Salads and appetizers are available in full or half servings. Suggested dishes include Napoleon salad (a combination of mixed Mesclun greens, sun-dried tomatoes, roasted vegetables, walnuts and watermelon with Balsamic vinaigrette as dressing), the clam chowder with smoked salmon tostada and double-decker sandwich. Krua Thai
The name means Thai kitchen and that is what one will feel when entering the restaurant. It has such a nice and welcoming ambience. Its red walls are covered with decorative items from Thailand such as wooden arts and crafts. If you feel like something different, go to Krua Thai and try the green curry with chicken or the famous tom yam gung (spicy soup with prawns). If you want something light (not too spicy) try the spicy and sweet fish filet, deep-fried spring rolls, morning glory fried with soy source or fried rice with crab. Singha beer is also available here.

MB's
Dishes at MB’s come in big sizes, especially the salad and pizza (good enough for two people). They serve traditional German food as well as Hungarian sausage with French fries, chicken wings with spicy sauce and pepper steak.
