Puerto Princesa International Airport

Getting to Palawan by Plane

Puerto Princesa International Airport (PPS) is the main gateway to Palawan, the westernmost province in the Philippines. The airport is helpfully located just 2 km east of the centre of the city it takes its name from. It services flights from local airlines like Cebu Pacific, Philippines Airlines and AirAsia, with arrivals mostly from Cebu and Manila.

Originally built by prisoners of war during the Japanese occupation of the island in World War II, it used to use crushed coral to illuminate the runway for night landings! Fortunately, there’s been a lot of modernisation since then. Puerto Princesa Airport opened as a domestic airport in the ‘80s and underwent a full renovation in 2017, adding a brand new terminal and extending the runway.
